Godsmack Drum Battle

Would’nt this world suck without music? It’s one of the greatest things on the planet in my opinion. I’ve always wondered how is it that music influences our emotions so much of the time. Like when you’re at a funeral, and the piano plays a slow, soft, sad tune, and it depresses you. It’s almost like it forces you into grief, or remembering the times you spent with the passed person. Now imagine taking out that piano from the room. It’s like it takes away that depressing mood. It just is’nt as sad after that. It’s amazing how it sparks that big of a reaction on your body and mind.

The video above is from a live performance of a band called Godsmack. Now, don’t let that name fool you. They are a great, heavy band. They play mostly metal, but every album has an acoustic, slower track at the end of it, showing their talent. In fact, in between their two most heavy albums, they put out an acoustic. That’s why I love this band so much. I mean come on, Slayer could’nt have done something like that!

I hope you watch that video all the way through and not get bored with it two minutes in, because it only gets better. It starts slow, with the drummer of Godsmack, Shannon Larkin, opening up with his drum kit, then the bands lead singer, Sully Erna (who has also played the drums all his life), comes in with his own kit. Sully jams along with percussion to start, then three minutes in he pulls out his own drumstics, and they duel. Plenty of drums, pyro, and riffs.

Please enjoy it all the way through.

I’ve never blogged a day in my life. It seems interesting to me, though. It’s a great way to make your views known to others. We’ve all got our opinions on things, so why not express them?

I think blogging this semester will open up something new for me. It could just turn into my new hobby. I guess time will tell…
